Working as a horizontal directional driller since 2010, Matt became tired of dealing with the same issues - hard ground slowing you down, stubborn gatic lids, and 15 years of using the same tools with nothing better in sight.
“As soon as the ground’s a bit hard, as soon as a lid’s a bit stuck, you know you’re in for a slow day.”
He was sure there was a better way.
But with no sign of any new tools on the market, Matt had no choice but to make improvements of his own.
What started out as simple modifications to improve steering performance in hard ground, has become a 7 year journey of completely redesigning the whole drill head shape from scratch.
After years of trial and error, coupled with persistence and a deep understanding of drilling technology - both above and below the ground - Monkey and Rock now equips drill crews across Australia with innovative tooling that removes frustration, making work more productive and enjoyable.
